IN THE PINK St.Peter’s Day 28th June 2015

Number  303
St.Peter’s Day
Is the Patronal Festival at St.Peter’s, so we are giving thanks to God for our patron saint, the Prince of the Apostles. There will be food and drink after the service in the Hall. Please do stay for the party.

Fr Reg Bushau
Fr Reg, who was Vicar of St.Mary Mags from 1988 to 1997, is celebrating the 40th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood with a Mass at which the Bishop of Fulham will preside at St.Stephen’s, Gloucester Road, (where he is Vicar) at 7pm on Monday 29th June. Fr.Trevor Jones SSC (Vicar of St.Peter’s, London Docks) will preach. Fr.Reg has asked us to let all the crew at St.Mary Mags know, so do go along.

Benefice Book Club
The new book to read is “The Rector’s Daughter” by F.M.Mayor (available as a Virago Modern Classic via Amazon, also on Kindle, secondhand Penguin and Virago copies can be found). It is a story of female awakening originally published in 1924. The meeting is on Wednesday 15th July at 7.30pm in the Meeting Room, upstairs at St.Peter’s. There are posters in church for you to sign up if you are coming, to help with the catering.
Fr Graham Buckle
Fr Graham, who was Priest-in-Charge of St.Peter’s from 1994 to 2000, is celebrating the 25th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood with a Eucharist at St.Stephen’s, Rochester Row (where he is now Vicar) at 7.30pm on Friday 3rd July. All friends welcome!

Church Theatre Outing
We will be going as a group to see the improvised play “Austentacious: an Improvised Jane Austen Novel”, at the Leicester Square Theatre at 7pm on Sunday 27th September. Tickets are £12.50. In each show the award-winning cast will improvise a brand new Jane Austen novel, based on an audience suggestion, eg Sixth Sense & Sensibility, Jurassic Mansfield Park, Double O Darcy. Performed in regency costume with musical accompaniment, so mark your dance card, fetch your bonnet and book your tickets! Swooning guaranteed! Performances may not be suitable for children and may contain adult humour. We need to book the tickets soon, so if you would like to come along, please pay Lesley or Nicky at SMM, or Pauline or Cassie at St.Peter’s by Sunday 5th July.

School Governors
Thanks to a change in the way the governing bodies are made up both PCCs need to appoint an extra governor, so if you would be interested in becoming a governor at either St.Peter’s or St.Mary Magdalene’s School, please speak to Fr.Henry.

Children’s Church
St.Peter’s Children’s Church needs more volunteers in order to continue  after the holidays, but most importantly we need all involved to get their DBS check done. The Diocese requires us to make sure all children’s church volunteers are properly checked according to best safeguarding practice, so please do your DBS form! This is really important; see Julie Benet if you need help with the DBS process.

PCC Meetings
St.Peter’s PCC meets on Wednesday 8th July, and St.Mary Mags on Thursday 16th July.
