IN THE PINK All Saints’ Tide 2016

 All Souls Day
The biggest event of the year at St Mary Mags is the Solemn Requiem on All Souls’ Day, the day when we pray for all our departed loved ones. This year we shall be using the famous setting by Gabriel Faure, and offering the requiem especially in memory of Helen Everett. Please write the names of people you want to be remembered in the prayers at the Requiem on the sheets at the back of the church. The Requiem is at 7:30 pm on Wednesday 2nd November.

Art Show
After the Requiem there will be a private view of the art show, “Bryher and Beyond; a Personal Encounter”, by Carolyn Barker-Mill, our artist in residence, in the Crypt. All welcome. Show continues all week.

Christmas Fair
St Peter’s Christmas Fair will be on Saturday 10th December. Please put the date in your diaries. Stallholders’ and helpers’ meeting after church on Sunday 6th November.

Book Club
The next book club meeting is at 7:30 pm on Wednesday 16th November in the Meeting Room, St.Peter’s House. The book to read is ‘The Great Gatsby’ by F. Scott Fitzgerald, one of the greatest novels of the 20th century. There are lists in church for you to sign up to show us that you may be coming.

PCC Meetings
The November meetings of both church councils are coming up. St Mary Magdalene’s PCC meets at 11:00 am on Sunday 6th November in the Vestry. St Peter’s PCC meets at 7pm on Wednesday 9th November in the Meeting Room.

Autumn Events
The Autumn programmes from St Pauls Cathedral and St Martin-in-the Fields are now in church. At St Martin-in the- Fields on Monday 31st at 7 pm Professor Stanley Hauerwas on “My Neighbour, my nation and the presidential election.”

School Governor Needed
St Peter’s PCC needs to appoint someone to represent them on the School’s Board of Governors. If you would be interested in this important role, please speak to Father Henry or to Lorraine Kessler-Singh.

Raffle Prizes Please
We need your help to make up the hampers for the raffle prizes for the Christmas Fair. Fancy food items please to the office ASAP.

Remembrance Sunday
13th November is Remembrance Sunday, so we have the Act of Remembrance at the end of Mass at St Mary Mags. At St Peter’s we do it at 11 o’clock, so you need to be in church early! There is a civic remembrance service for Paddington at the War Memorial in Lancaster Gate at 2:30 pm.

IN THE PINK Harvest 2016

Harvest Thanksgiving
We are keeping today, 16th October, as our thanksgiving for the Harvest. If you have forgotten to bring stuff for the Food Bank today, as your harvest offering, we shall still be able to accept in in the Food Bank bins whenever you bring it. The school Harvest services are Tuesday 18th at 2:45 for St Mary Mags, and Wednesday 19th at 2:30 for St Peter’s. You are very welcome at the school services.

St Mary Magdalene’s Dedication Festival
Next Sunday is the anniversary of the consecration of the church at St Mary Mags, so we celebrate with a combined service at 11 am. James is bringing a choir so we should have good music. Please bring food for the party afterwards. So there is no 9:30 service, nor any service at St Peter’s next week.  

Ladies’ Big Pink Day
At Maida Hill Place on Saturday 22nd from 7 pm to 11pm, in aid of Breast Cancer Care. You are urged to wear something pink, and to enjoy pink cocktails and cupcakes, with jewellery and natural skin care and beauty products, as well as a raffle and fun.  

Book Club
The book club meeting has been postponed to 7:30 pm on Wednesday 19th October in the Meeting Room, in St.Peter’s House. The book to read is ‘A House for Mr Biswas’ by V.S. Naipaul. There are lists in church for you to sign up to show us that you may be coming.

Professor Mark Sutton RIP
The Funeral mass for Mark Sutton will be at St Mary Mags at 12 noon on Thursday 20th.

St Augustine’s Autumn Fair
Our neighbours at St Augustine’s Kilburn Park, are holding their Autumn Fair on Saturday 22nd from 10:30 to 3pm.

First Communion
We celebrate our First Communion Service at St Peter’s today. Please pray for Ben and Olivia who are making their First Communion. The Traidcraft stall will be open over coffee.

Harvest Services
We shall be keeping Harvest next Sunday, 16th October, as our thanksgiving for the harvest. Please bring gifts for the Food Bank, as your harvest offerings. St Augustine’s Autumn Fair
Our neighbours at St Augustine’s Kilburn Park, are holding their Autumn Fair on Saturday 22nd.

Little Venice Music Festival
The final concert of the festival is today at 4 pm at St Saviour’s.  Adrian Brendel (cello) with Christopher Glynn and the Berkeley Ensemble playing a programme including Schubert’s String Quintet. Tickets £18.

Maida Hill Neighbourhood Forum
The AGM of the Forum will take place from 2pm to 4 pm at the WECH Community Centre, Chantry Close on Saturday 15th October. If you live or work in Harrow Road Ward this is your chance to influence local planning issues.
