IN THE PINK Lent 3 2017

Issue 382
Talk on Edward Wilson
As part of our fundraising at St Mary Mags, we are having an illustrated talk on the life and work of Dr Edward Wilson (part of Captain Scott’s expedition to the South Pole) given by his great nephew, local resident Max Rendall. This will be on Thursday 30th March at 7:15pm (refreshments from 6:15pm). Tickets are £20 payable on the door.

Come and Have Tea with Us
We are having a group “Tea and Tunes” on Sunday afternoons during Lent, in the meeting room at St Peter’s at 3:30pm. We listen to some music over tea and cakes, and talk about the Bible. You aren’t allowed to fast on Sundays, so cake is OK! Do come along this afternoon, and Sunday 2nd April.

St Peter’s Annual Meeting
The Annual Parochial Church Meeting for St Peter’s is on Sunday 2nd April at 12:30. This is your chance to hold us to account for the running of the church. We elect Churchwardens, and the members of the Parochial Church Council. The meeting receives reports on the year’s activities, and the PCC accounts. The Annual Report and Accounts are available at the back of church. Also at the back of church is the nomination list for PCC members. Please nominate people! We need a full PCC to carry out its work properly. The only qualification to be a PCC member is that you must be on the Church Electoral Roll. The PCC represents the congregation. Nomination forms for Churchwardens can be obtained from Fr Henry, and must be returned to him.

May Book Club
The book to read is “The House of Hidden Mothers” by Meera Syal, available in paperback and on Kindle. We are meeting on Wednesday 17th May at 7:30 pm in the Meeting Room at St Peter’s. The usual posters will go up in church so you can let us know whether you might be coming.

PCC Meeting
St Mary Mags PCC meets at 11am on Sunday 19th in the Vestry.

First Communion
Our policy is that we admit children to Holy Communion who are baptized, are regular worshippers, are 7 years old, and who want to do this, and are supported by their parents. We do this after several weeks’ preparation which takes place in the context of the Children’s Church at St Peter’s, and is set up as required at St Mary Mags. Normally we have a First Communion Service in the summer (though sometimes it is after the summer holiday). If you are interested in your child being admitted to Holy Communion, please speak to Fr Henry.

Confessions in Lent
Fr. Henry is always available to hear confessions, just call or email to fix a time.
