IN THE PINK Trinity 1 2017

150th Anniversary
We shall be celebrating the 150th anniversary of the start of the building of St Mary Mags with a special combined service at 11am today. We welcome the Chaplain of Keble College, Oxford (the patrons of the parish) Fr Nevsky Everett (no relation) as our preacher, and James has recruited singers who are singing music by Palestrina, the great Renaissance composer. There is a display of some of our old pictures at the back of the church. There will be a party afterwards, so please stay.

My Westminster Day
Today from 11 to 3 pm at Paddington Rec. Food tent including Sandra Maddix’s “Guava Nights”, music including Ebony Steel Band, free activities, market place and sports. All sorts of fun activities, put on by Westminster City Council.

School Fete
St Peter’s School are holding their Summer Fete on 1st July. We shall be having church stalls as usual. We need your good children’s books to sell, and your small toys for a “toy shy”. Please bring your toys to church ASAP.

St Peter’s Day
As usual we shall be celebrating St Peter’s Patronal Festival on the Sunday nearest to St Peter’s Day, which is Sunday 2nd July. There will be a combined service at 11am at St Peter’s, with a party afterwards. Please bring food.

Donations for Grenfell Tower Victims
They are overwhelmed by stuff, but if you want to send money the Kensington and Chelsea Foundation are co-ordinating the appeal:


 Walsingham Pilgrimage
If you fancy going on pilgrimage to Walsingham, (England’s own historic shrine of the Blessed Virgin Mary) our neighbours at St Johns, Kensal Green, will be going on Friday 13th to Sunday 15th October. The cost is £190, which includes full board and coach travel. If you are interested please contact Anne Abel by email anne109abel@btinternet.com by the end of June.  

July Book Club
The book is “The End of the Affair” by Graham Greene. We meet on Wednesday 19th July at 7:30pm in the Meeting Room at St Peter’s.

IN THE PINK Trinity Sunday 2017

150th Anniversary
We shall be celebrating the 150th anniversary of the start of the building of St Mary Mags with a special combined service at 11am Next Sunday. We shall be welcoming the Chaplain of Keble College, Oxford (the patrons of the parish) as our preacher, and James has recruited singers who will be singing music by Palestrina. It will be a very special occasion so make sure you are there. There is no service at St Peter’s next Sunday as a consequence. There will be a party afterwards, so please bring food!

Tenth Birthday
Last Wednesday was the tenth birthday of the St Peter’s Lunch Club. Congratulations to Jacqui and all her helpers on this significant anniversary. There will be a celebration soon.

Paddington Deanery Synod
Meets at Mary Mags on Tuesday, following Mass at 6:30pm. All are welcome. There will be a presentation on the Diocesan Youth Strategy, and the Bishop of Willesden will come to explain about the process for choosing the next Bishop of London.

Corpus Christi
This is the day we give thanks for the institution of the Holy Eucharist. We are invited to join our friends at All saints, Margaret Street (by Oxford Circus) for their High Mass and Procession on Thursday 15th June at 6:30pm. Being part of the procession (with choir and brass players) down to Oxford Street is a great experience. Do go along.

Reflective day at St Katherine’s
At St Katherine’s Foundation, in Limehouse, on Saturday 17th, 10-30-5. “Something Rich and Strange: a Spiritual Journey through Shakespeare’s The Tempest” led by Canon Mark Oakley of St Paul’s. Cost £40. Book through the adult learning section of the St Paul’s website.

Today at St Paul’s Cathedral
“Is God Colour-Blind?” in the Wren Suite, in the Crypt of St Paul’s. Free entry. 1pm-2pm. Professor Anthony Reddie on getting a fuller picture of God by hearing each other’s experience.

The God Who Speaks: the Bible and the Holy Spirit Today
At St Paul’s Cathedral on Tuesday 6th June, 6:30pm-8pm. Free admission but register on the adult learning section of the St Paul’s Cathedral website.

Thy Kingdom Come
This is a global initiative, between Ascension and Pentecost, of prayer for more people to come to know Jesus Christ. There are events all over. Please pray for the continued spread of the Gospel all over the world.
