St Peter’s Dedication Festival
Do stay for the party after the service today.

All Souls Day
The All Souls Day Requiem is at 7.30pm on Friday 2nd November at St Mary Mags. Get there early! There are lists in church for the names of the departed.

Christmas Fair Meeting
There will be a meeting for anyone interested in helping with the Christmas Fair at St Peter’s after church on Sunday 4th November.

War Memorial Calvary
The War Memorial Calvary at St Mary Mags has been restored, thanks to the generosity of the War Memorials Trust and a private donor. We intend to rededicate it on Monday 12th November at 10.45.

Concert for Remembrance
At 7.30pm on Friday 9th November at St John’s, Kensal Green, Free admission. Works by Mozart and Elgar, and music for the piano. The Vasko String Quartet. In aid of the British Legion.

PCC Meetings
St Peter’s PCC meets at 7pm on Wednesday 7th in the Meeting Room, St Mary Mags PCC meets at 7pm on Thursday 8th November in the Vicarage (NB change of date).

Christmas Fair Saturday 1st December
Raffle Prizes, Tombola Prizes, Books, Bric-a-Brac, Toys and Cakes please.
We need your help with the following (please bring to the office ASAP): Fancy items to make up our Christmas hampers, plus other bigger raffle prizes (including bubbly…)
Plus: Tombola Prizes – Good quality books – Bric-a Brac -Toys – Smaller Toys (McDonalds Style “bits and bobs” for our toy tombola).
Cakes (larger single cakes & individual cup cakes) mince pies etc. The more the merrier! Please bring on the day.

Remembrance Sunday
Is 11th November. Act of Remembrance after Mass at SMM, but please remember service starts at 10.55 at St Peter’s.

Book Club
The Book Club will meet at 7:30pm on Wednesday 12th December in the Meeting Room, upstairs at St Peter’s. We are reading “The Bertie Project” by Alexander McCall Smith.

IN THE PINK SMM Dedication 2018

Special Event
On Thursday 25th October at 6.30pm St Mary Mags is privileged to be hosting a special free talk, “Auden, the Psalms, and Me” by the American poet, J Chester Johnson. He will be talking about working with W H Auden on the translations of the Psalms for the American Prayer Book. Please do come along and enjoy a glass of wine in the newly-restored church.

St Mary Magdalene’s Dedication Festival
Today is the anniversary of the consecration of the church by Bishop Jackson in 1873, and coincides with our return to worshipping in the main church, and so is an occasion of special joy for us this year, so please stay for the party afterwards.

We shall keep St Peter’s Dedication Festival with a combined service next Sunday 28th October. There will be no Mass at St Mary Mags that day. There will be a party afterwards, so please bring food. See Pauline for guidance.

Harvest
As usual we shall keep our harvest thanksgiving in One World Week, so that will be 14th October, next Sunday. We shall be collecting for the Foodbank, and there are slips with a list of what they do want and do not want. Please be generous with your support of the Foodbank, which is meeting real need, absolutely on our doorsteps.  

Pilgrimage
We have our own saint’s shrine in Westminster, which is the grave of St Edward the Confessor at Westminster Abbey. His feast on 13th October, and the Abbey now takes it very seriously. There is a Sung Mass at 5pm on Friday 12th, and then on Saturday 13th a whole day of celebrations, with the Abbey open from 9.30 for pilgrims, and opportunities for prayer and activities for adults and children all day. There will be a Festival Eucharist at 11.30 and Evensong at 3pm. Fr Henry intends to walk to the Abbey as a pilgrim, and invites anyone who would like to join him to assemble outside the Vicarage at 9.30.

St Mary Magdalene’s Dedication Festival
The dedication festival is kept on Sunday 21st October, and coincides with our return to worshipping in the main church, and so will be an occasion of special joy for us this year. The combined Mass will be at 11am, and there will be no service at St Peter’s that morning. There will be a party afterwards, so please bring food.

Working Party at St Mary Magdalene’s
The restoration works at St Mary Magdalene’s are nearly finished, and the builders intend to hand the church back to us on 19th October. We shall need a working party to clean and move furniture on Saturday 20th from 10am. Please bring dusters.
