IN THE PINK Magdalentide 2019

     Issue 496

St Mary Magdalene’s Day
We celebrate the Patronal Festival at St Mary Magdalene’s today, giving thanks for the life of St Mary Magdalene, the apostle to the apostles. There will be food afterwards.

Congratulations
To Lesley Chakravorty, who has graduated from the Paddington Christian Studies course. She was presented with her certificate at a service last week at St Matthew’s, Bayswater, by the Director of Ministry in the Diocese, Fr Neil Evans.

Knife Bin
Thanks to charitable support, a knife bin has been installed outside our Lady of Lourdes Church on the Harrow Road. Do let people know about it.

The Co Mooring
Do pick up a leaflet with details of events this month on the Harrow Road section of the Canal (under the Westway).

Book Club
The book club will meet next on Wednesday 28th August, at 7.30pm in the Meeting Room at St Peter’s. Our new book is written by Nelson Abbey, a member of St Peter’s (since childhood). It has just been published by Canongate, and is entitled “Think like a White Man”. It presents on the cover as being by “Dr Boule Whytelaw lll as told to Nels Abbey” but you can find it on Amazon under Nelson’s name. Even if you are not going to come to the book club, do buy the book.

Evening Prayer
Evening prayer is now said daily at 5.30pm at St Mary Mags (not just on Tuesday and Thursday). Do come in and join us in placing the cares of the day before God.

“The House of God”
The Music Society are putting on a celebration in words and music to mark the completion of our restoration and building works. Make sure it is in your diary. Thursday 12 September at 7.30pm.

Grand Junction
This is the new name for the St Mary Mags project, which is run by PDT and the PCC together. Grand Junction activities are starting now that the building work is finished, though the café won’t be open until August. Do take a copy of the Grand Junction brochure.

Thanks
Fr Henry and Fiona would like to thank you all very much for your cards, presents and best wishes. Special thanks to those who came to the church.

St Mary Magdalene’s Day
We celebrate the Patronal Festival at St Mary Magdalene’s on the Sunday nearest to 22nd July, so that’s 21st July this year. Consequently, there is no service at St Peter’s next Sunday, and we join together for a combined service at 11am at St Mary Magdalene’s. There will be food afterwards, so please remember to bring something. St Peter's servers please come along in your robes.

Congratulations
To Lesley Chakravorty, who has graduated from the Paddington Christian Studies course. She was presented with her certificate at a service last week at St Matthew’s, Bayswater, by the Director of Ministry in the Diocese, Fr Neil Evans.
