Palm Crosses
Please bring your old palm crosses to church to be burnt before Ash Wednesday.

Ash Wednesday
Ash Wednesday, the start of Lent, is 26th February. There will be a school service at St Mary Mags at 2 in the afternoon, and the Parish Mass with Imposition of Ashes will be at St Mary Mags at 8 pm.

Confessions before Lent
If you want to make your confession before the start of Lent, please book a time with Father Henry.

“Congregation” Exhibition
The Architecture Foundation are staging an exhibition of new sacred architecture in the Undercroft of St Mary Mags. Free. Open daily from 22nd February to 7th March. 10 – 5pm Monday to Saturday, 11 – 3pm on Sundays.

Music Society AGM and Concert
The St Mary Magdalene Music Society AGM is at 6pm on Thursday 5th March at Sussex House, 68 Cadogan Square. At 7pm follows the first concert of the year, “Victorian Voices” in the Ballroom. Do take a free ticket.

Women’s World Day of Prayer
Friday 6th March at St Luke’s, Fernhead Road. Services at 11pm and 8pm. Bring and share food. If you would like to help with the service please come to a preparation session on Saturday 29th February at 11am, also at St Luke’s.

Lenten Quiet Day
We are organising an ecumenical Lent Quiet Day. This will be on Saturday 14th March from 10.45 to 2pm. The conductor will be Fr Neil Bunker. It will be held at Christchurch, Brondesbury, on Willesden Lane. No charge but a contribution of £3 per head would be welcome.

Book Club
The book club will meet next on Wednesday 22nd April, at 7.30pm in the Meeting Room at St Peter’s. Our book is “Americanah” by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

Grand Junction Programme
Do take a copy of this quarter’s Grand Junction programme of events and activities.

Volunteers at Grand Junction
Grand Junction has lots of opportunities for volunteers. Do look at the website, or contact Sara: volunteering@grandjunction.org.uk
They are especially keen to recruit people to welcome people to the building.

The organ at St Peter’s needs your help, having suffered damage from liquid entering some pipes. We need to spend £1150 on getting the work done. Please give your donations to Fr Henry or Richard.

Women’s Social Group
The next meeting of the Women’s Social Group will be at 7pm on Wednesday 19th February, in the Meeting Room at St Peter’s.

It costs £15 and can be booked via the adult learning area of the St Paul’s website.

Concert for the Avenues
St Mary Mags is hosting a fundraising concert for the Avenues Youth Club this afternoon at 3.30pm, starring performers from the hit musical “Hamilton”, Guildhall, School of Music and Drama, and young people from the Avenues Youth Project. A fun and magical afternoon celebrating youth and showcasing talent, including songs from the musicals and classical performances. Tickets are £30, booking
Children can come for free.  If you are interested in coming have a word with Fr Henry or Virginia Ashton.

Freud in Paddington
Thursday 13th February at 7.30pm at St Mary Mags, Bill Feaver, Lucian Freud’s friend and biographer, will be talking about Freud’s 30 years working in Paddington. Tickets are £12 (concessions £4). Book via the Grand Junction website.

Book Club
The book club will meet next on Wednesday 12th February, at 7.30pm in the Meeting Room at St Peter’s. Our book is “Just William” by Richmal Crompton. After some rather harrowing novels, we thought something lighter would be appropriate to the season.

Visit from the Bishop of London
Today we welcome the Bishop of London, Dame Sarah Mullaly, will be preaching at a special service of Evensong and Benediction at St Mary Magdalene’s this evening. The service is to celebrate the completion of the building works, and the partnership with PDT. This will be at 7pm this evening with refreshments afterwards. Paddington Deanery have been invited along with our friends and colleagues from PDT. Do come along and meet the bishop on her first visit to the Benefice.

Freud in Paddington
